Biography:

Joseph Berger M.D.,R.Ph., F.A.P.A.  is a board-certified psychiatrist in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia.

An Atlanta native, Dr. Berger graduated from Duke University and entered Mercer Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, where he completed his B.S. in Pharmacy. After a decade of practicing both hospital and retail pharmacy, he entered Touro College in New York, obtained an M.S. in Biological Sciences and went on to complete his MD at the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, in Haifa, Israel in 1996.


Following an internship in family practice at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Dr. Berger finished his residency training at Emory University in Atlanta. During a ten-month senior elective at The Mood & Anxiety Disorders Clinical Trials Program at Emory, he became proficient in conducting clinical evaluations, SCIDs’, and ratings for on site research trials. His prior research experience led to his earning the Georgia Psychiatric & Physicians Association Skobba Award for Research in both 1998 and 2000.

Dr. Berger has authored and co-authored journal articles and posters, and contributed to textbooks on topics related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety and depression, panic and suicide in the depressed population.

Currently, Dr. Berger primarily practices psychopharmacology, specializing in anxiety and mood disorders with a special focus on ADHD and bipolar disorder
